Ingredients:

  • 5oz. can of wild Alaskan pink salmon
  • ½ cup goat milk kefir
  • 2 tbsp finely diced mint
  • 1 tbsp finely diced fresh basil

Special Tools:

Directions:

  • First, you’ll need to finely dice the herbs. We used fresh mint and basil from plants we have at home.
  • Add a bit of salmon to each of the ice cube molds. (You can use as much or as little as you like, but I like to limit the salmon to the middle of each stick!)
  • Sprinkle a thin layer of herbs in the empty spaces of each mold.
  • Pour kefir over the herbs and sprinkle any remaining pieces on top.
  • Transfer the ice cube tray to the freezer and allow molds to freeze for a minimum of 3-4 hours.
  • Remove molds from the freezer and slide carefully into your Qwizl.

Notes:
If your dog loves smelly treats, this is the recipe for you! When she figures out that you sandwiched a stinky surprise in between a blend of breath-freshening herbs, you’ll come out smelling like a rose. In this Qwizl, I used goat milk kefir but you can easily customize this recipe to suit your dog's unique preferences. Some dogs may prefer a tasty, hydrating bone broth!

Got any leftover mixture? Put it in a silicone mold to make yummy pupsicles!

Nutrition Tip:
Kefir's superpower? Its probiotics! With 61 strains of bacteria and yeast, it's a gut health superhero, fending off infections and supporting digestion. Plus, it's packed with protein, calcium, vitamin K, B vitamins, magnesium, and potassium, all vital for a healthy body! Goat’s milk kefir is even lower in lactose than regular kefir.

Salmon is fin-tastic for your pup! Packed with Omega 3 fatty acids, it keeps cholesterol, triglyceride, and blood pressure levels in check, all while being a digestible tasty treat that boasts a hefty dose of protein. Look for high-quality salmon that is low in contaminates to be as nutrient dense as possible.
